Best Position Fit
4-3 Defensive End / SAM or RUSH 3-4 Outside Linebacker

Plenty of bend around the edge. Excels at beating tackles to the outside. Strong against the run. Doesn’t miss games. Very intelligent player.

Straight line speed is not elite. Can get caught jumping the snap count.

Mostly played 9-technique at Tennessee, and was occasional asked to drop into coverage. He could have a long NFL career leaning on his ability to set the edge and stop the run. He has the ability to play both 3-4 outside linebacker positions. However, his best position might be at SAM in a 3-4 defense. He could also find a long-term home as a 4-3 defensive end.

Bottom Line
Barnett is an interesting prospect. He is not fast, but he bends extremely well. He could come off the board somewhere between 8 overall to mid first round.
