The Miami Dolphins are rebuilding and if they don’t like the quarterbacks in this years’ draft then it might make sense to negotiate with the Colts for Jacoby Brissett.
The Dolphins could offer the Colts the 13th overall pick for Jacoby Brissett and the 26th overall pick. They basically swap first round picks. Miami gets the quarterback and still retains a first round pick. A fair trade for both the Colts and the Dolphins. Both teams win.
Picking at 13th overall, the Dolphins are not in great position to grab a quarterback in this year’s draft. It is possible that Drew Lock or Daniel Jones could fall in the Dolphins range. However, Brian Flores might only get one shot with a first round quarterback.
Jacoby Brissett is scheduled to earn a 2019 base salary of $2.02 million. If he doesn’t pan out then the Dolphins have lost very little. However, if he is successful then it’s a small price to pay for a franchise quarterback.
