Marcus Davenport is one of the best Edge defenders in the country. He has a long build, much like Jason Pierre-Paul. Davenport has very long arms to go along with his 6’6″ & 250-pound frame. He is not only a pass rusher but also very strong against the run.
Best Position Fit
43 Defensive End or 34 Outside Linebacker
Davenport is a physical freak. Exceptional pass rusher, and outstanding run defender. Uses his length to knock down passes. Stayed healthy throughout his entire college career. His college production is a complete package resume.
Mostly played against weak college opponents. Can be a little late getting off the ball.
Davenport’s length is very attractive to NFL decision makers. Has some position flexibility. He could possibly come off the board in the middle of the first round, and should be drafted on day 1.
Senior Bowl Notes
Was a little late getting off the ball on day 2. Offensive tackles were setting up before he could use his speed on them. Spent the first 2 days adjusting to the speed and quickness of tougher competition. In day 3, he really turned it on. He wasn’t thinking as much. He began playing more instinctively, which made it very difficult on the quarterbacks during the team drills. Proved during the game he could be a game wrecker.
