Genard Avery improved every season at Memphis. He played extensively at inside linebacker his first three years. In his senior season the coaching staff began sprinkling in some snaps for Genard from the Edge, and it made a statistical mark. Avery finished 2017 with 22 tackles for loss and 8 and half sacks.
In early 2016, Genard nearly transferred to Ole Miss, the school he most coveted coming out of high school. He decided to stay and give new head coach Mike Norvell and his staff an opportunity.
Best Position Fit
Gets after the quarterback. In 2017, he led all college linebackers in total quarterback pressures with 47.
Suffered a season ending wrist injury as a sophomore.
I think Avery will do his work from inside at the next level.
